Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is an eBook?
An eBook is a book you can read on your pc, smartphone, PDA or eReader hardware. An eBook is a digital file that can be interpreted by programs on said hardware to be rendered as book pages on the screen.
2. Why do I need a PayPal account?
PayPal provides us with payment services. To work as cheap as possible we chose PayPal, which is much cheaper than alternatives. And the cheaper we work, the cheaper our eBooks can be. By the way, in many countries PayPal supports payment from a normal bank account or credit card.
3. Why are royalties payed quarterly?
Receiving payments from PayPal costs € 0,35 and a percentage of total. The more often we pay you, the more often you pay € 0,35 to PayPal.
4. I have a contract with another publisher. Can I still publish my book as eBook wih eLibri?
It depends on your agreement with the other publisher. Thoroughly read your contract before you upload your work to eLibri. By uploading your work you assert that you own the rights on digital publishing of the uploaded work.
5. Won't eBook sales cause loss of sales volume in the paper version?
American book giant Amazon did some research: “So far what we have seen with the Kindle book units is that they are additive to physical book units. So when somebody buys a Kindle and the period after, they buy 1.6 times as many Kindle books as they bought physical books prior to buying a Kindle, and they continue to buy the same number of physical books. So that’s what we have seen so far and it’s obviously a very positive outcome. We hope that continues.”
In short: no, eBooks sales won't hurt your paper sales.
